Gardner Patrick Dickinson

August 14, 1963 - Oct 21, 2022

Farewell Dear Brother

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Gardner (Gar) Patrick Dickinson Aug 14, 1963- Oct 21, 2022. Survived by brothers Matt and Mark Dickinson (and partner Teresa) many extended family and friends.

Gar attended Acadia University on a football scholarship. He played his beloved sport of Rugby for Barrie Union and later the Westside Mera Loma of Vancouver.  The early years were spent in many cities across the country settling in Orillia and Barrie ON and finally Vancouver BC for the past thirty years.  At 59 years young Gar was a lover of life and the great outdoors and Vancouver was the perfect backdrop to feed that love. He cherished and cared for his many dog companions throughout his life; hiking in remote areas with them. One such experience had him falling into a cavern surviving with his dog who kept him warm until rescued.  That was Gar a survivor. He was a ‘deep thinker and a whiskey drinker’ a philosopher, a lover of poetry and music. He will join in the great beyond his mother Anne Dickinson, father Dan, brother Jay and Uncle Hap Leishman, and many more.

Emily Dickinson 1830

Hope is the thing with feathers,

That perches in the soul,

And sings the tune without the words,

And never stops at all….

This was Gar, forever the optimist always hopeful and a dream of a man. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Rest in Peace my Friend!!!
