Duff, Denise (nee Grant)
May 05, 1966 – April 11, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Denise at the young age of 56 after a lengthy and couragious battle with cancer. She died peacefully in her home as she wished, with her family by her side.

Predeceased by her father Warren (2013) and mother Patricia (2014), Denise leaves behind her loving husband Hugh of Milton, step children Veronica & Scott of Aylmer, brother Dan of Omemee, brother David (Norean) of Orillia, aunt Sue (Tim) of Haliburton, cousins Paul (Donna) of Brooklyn, Cory of Brooklyn, Krissy of Orillia and all of her nieces and nephews.

Denise was a beautiful soul with a lovely disposition and a smile & presence that would light up the room wherever she went. She was a people person who loved social gatherings, be it with family or friends. As such, her bubbly personality served her well in her career as a dental assistant. Although she never had children of her own, she loved and treated her step kids Veronica & Scott like they were hers, and they adored her as equally back. Their mother Sam came to befriend Denise and as she once asked "How can you not love Denise ?". Their relationship was one to be envied by other blended families. In her final several months she enjoyed spending extended visits up at her brother Dave's scenic lakefront home in Orillia where his wife Norean took very good care of her. Denise will be missed immensely by all whose lives she touched.

A big thank you to all of Denise's family & friends for thier exceptional support during her illness, especially in her final days. Thanks in particular to Debbie, Kerri, Lisa, Pat, Sam and Wendy who rallied to lessen our load by driving Denise to treatment appointments in Brampton and downtown Toronto over the years.
Special thanks also to Denise's health care team headed by Dr.Kuruvilla at Brampton Civic Hospital & the team headed by Dr.Crump at Princess Margaret Hospital, Dr.Li & palliative nurse Amanda at Brameast Family Health, and palliative nurse Yda May & PSW Karen from Acclaim Health who were all very caring and compassionate. Also to Leora and Steven from Heart House Hospice for their emotional support to Denise through her illness.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Per Denise's wishes, a cremation has already taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, details to follow.
