Doris passed away surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, February 16, 2024 in her 96th year.

Predeceased by the love of her life, Allan Walter, in 2005. Loving mother to David (Gwen) Faux, Douglas (Millie) Faux and Elizabeth (Steve) Rymal.  Cherished grandmother to Autumn (Van) and Morgann (Neil) and to Matt (Deb) and family.  Great grandmother to Winter Rymal Sheen. Predeceased by her parents, Roy and Emily Payne and her siblings, Mildred Smith, Clare (Louise) Payne, Fern (Stan) Gilchrist, and Betty (Bill) Thomson. Survived by brother in law John Smith.

Doris was known for her sharp wit and was loved by many. Everyone who knew her can recall a funny story involving her spicy repartee. Doris loved travelling around the world and baking sweets for special occasions. She was a skilled seamstress, knitter, upholsterer and in later years took an art course because she loved to draw. Laughing and telling jokes and reading great books kept her humming.  And our family will forever remember listening to her play the piano by ear at  Christmas time.  Most of all she loved to be with her family, especially if that involved a generous serving of dessert. Thank you to the staff at Lanark Lodge, who took such great care of Mom these past nine years. We are forever grateful for your kindness and compassion.

Rest easy now Mom.  Your struggle here is over and we will be okay.

Private family committal service will be held in Orillia at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Home, Perth.
