Was born in 1926 to Robert and Pearl Glover in Toronto, Ontario. Gladys passed away peacefully on January 7, 2024 at Lakeridge Health Port Perry surrounded by her loved ones.

She was predeceased by her husband Vernon K. Flaherty (2022) and by her brothers Robert, Donald and Douglas. Gladys is survived by her beloved younger sister Jean (Glover) Fike. She was loved by and leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Gladys was an amazing person- still out cutting grass, shoveling snow and, until recently, riding her bike downtown Beaverton. Many still remember her behind the snack bar at the Strand Theatre which Gladys and Vernon built and operated for nearly seventy years.

Glady’s family would like to take this opportunity to thank her nurses and her surgeon, Dr. Stryde, for providing such excellent care. We would also like to thank Glady’s amazing neighbours for helping her throughout the latter years of her life, this enabled her to continue to live independently.

Visitation will be held at the Mangan Funeral Home, on Friday January 19th from 12 noon until time of funeral service in the chapel at 1:00 P.M. Interment to follow at Stone Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Air Force Association Wing 429 or to Port Perry Hospital Foundation.
