It is with great sadness that the family of Edward Francis Gellately announces his passing on Monday, January 10, 2022 at the LaVerendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, ON.

Edward was born on September 19, 1950 in Orillia, ON to Francis and Freda Gellately. He was raised in Orillia, attending Vocational School to become a machinist. He was united in marriage to Cheryl Olivier on 15 September 1973 and they settled in Orillia to raise their family. He worked in Orillia until 1979 and then moved the family to Terrace Bay. In 1986 they left Terrace Bay and moved to Sudbury. He left the Pulp and Paper Industry and took a job in the Arctic Circle for several years. Cheryl and their children, Dana and Christina were fortunate to travel with him to the Arctic Circle during this time. The family left Sudbury in 1991 and moved to Devlin where Edward resided to this day, including in his retirement. Not one to stay idle he worked with his neighbours creating beautiful wood cabinets, benches and more. He enjoyed his regular poker games with friends. He was a kind and thoughtful person who enjoyed helping others. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Francis and Freda; wife Cheryl on April 14, 2010; sister-in-law Isha Gellately and brothers-in-law Harold and Jimmy Olivier.

Edward will be greatly missed by his son Dana (Rachel) and their children Grant, Nolan and Ethan; daughter Christina Singleton (Sean) and her children Liam and Connor; siblings Anna Martin, Allan Gellately, Elaine Gellately (Joe), David Gellately and Doreen Butz as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and due to COVID 19 Restrictions, there will be no public gathering at this time.
