1943 to 2022

Rosemary passed away peacefully at Mariposa House Hospice in Severn ON, in the early morning of October 8, 2022, in her 80th year.

Rosemary is survived by her husband Bill, her son Jonathan, her brother Robert and his wife Cathy, and her cousins, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces.

Rosemary graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1963 with a degree in English and Philosophy. She then went to Althouse College of Education in London and qualified as a high school teacher. Later she studied English literature at Middlebury College in Vermont and earned an MA in 1977. Rosemary had a long career as a high school English teacher, teaching in Waterford, Oakville, and finally in Orillia where she remained for the rest of her career. She loved teaching literature and influenced the lives of many students, both in the classroom and through her work in after-school theatre productions, as well as public speaking clubs.

Rosemary was amazingly resilient in the way that she lived as she battled through years of chronic health challenges and was every bit as resilient toward the end of her life. We admired her so much, for her kind and loving spirit, her intelligence, her sense of humour, and for the way she bravely handled adversity without ever giving up.

There will be a visitation at the Mundell Funeral Home at 79 West Street North in Orillia on Saturday October 22nd, 2022, between 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm.

Donations to the Mariposa House Hospice in Severn ON would be appreciated by the family.  Messages of condolence are welcomed at www.mundellfuneralhome.com
