It is with great sadness that we announce that Barry Goring peacefully passed away at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital May 11, 2022, at the age of 85. Barry was born in Toronto and predeceased by his wife Margaret Goring (2016) after a marriage of 59 years. He is survived by his daughters Cheryl (Mike), Alison (Ross), grandson Jordan, brother Norm (Jean), Niece Christina (Brian) and Nephew Richard.
Barry will not only be missed by his family, his many friends and his adopted Oakland Beach Family. He was blessed to have a loving extended family who called and visited often for dinner and many games of cards (which he won all too frequently to call him a congenial host). He was sought out for his history and knowledge of the area along with his many life stories.
Barry started working at the age of 15 to support his family after his father died. He worked very hard and obtained a position as a stock broker at the Toronto Stock Exchange and Richardson Securities/Royal Bank until his retirement at the age of 62. At that time, he changed his residence and built a home on Oakland Beach Road (family property) where he and Margie enjoyed many happy years on Lake Couchiching.
Barry enjoyed golfing, boating, yard work and entertaining.
In keeping with Barry’s wishes he has been cremated. Arrangements entrusted to the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St., N., Orillia.
