Shirley Gowanlock passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Orillia, in her 83rd year. Beloved wife of 60 years to her husband Alexander Gowanlock. Dear mother of Gloria and husband Mark Matthias of Orillia, Yvonne (Bonnie) and husband Robert Burton of New Liskeard and Stephen Gowanlock and his wife Melissa of Orillia. Grandmother of Shelley and husband Dave Graham,, Rena MacKinnon, Mark Jr. Matthias and his fiance Kaitlyn Potts, Rachel Matthias all of Orillia, Daniel Burton his wife Erika and family of New Liskeard, Michael Burton and his wife Monique of North Bay, Nichole and husband Eric Cummings of New Liskeard, Daeden and Zoe Gowanlock of Orillia. Great grandmother of Taylor, Kyla, Jade, Shelby, Autumn, Olivia, Leelynd, Skyler, Charlie, Henry, Octavia, Zaiah, Maximus and Gawain. Great Great grandmother of Onyx and Cara. Predeceased by her parents Archibald C. LaHay and Helen LaHay/Laws (Nee Fountain). Dear sister of Marion (John) Dupuis (Both predeceased), Archie (Predeceased) and wife Irene LaHay, Larry (predeceased) and wife Jane LaHay, William (predeceased) and wife Margaret LaHay, Geraldine (predeceased) and husband William Winchester, Linda Groves and best friend Don Hanney (predeceased), Joseph (predeceased) and wife Cathy LaHay, Dorothy Morrow, Monty and wife Judy LaHay, Paul LaHay, Brenda and husband Bruce Livingston and Raymond and wife April LaHay. Shirley will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Shirley drove school bus for 16 years, farmed for 44 years at Uhthoff and did fencing with her husband, Alex. She was a member of the Christian Fellowship Chapel for 47 years. Visitation will be held at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St., N., Orillia on Tuesday, November 21st, from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 pm and on Wednesday, November 22, from 11 am until time of the Funeral Service at 12 noon. Reception to immediately follow with interment to take place at St. Andrew's - St. James' Cemetery, Orillia at 2:45 pm.
