Norma K. Hicks (née Moon) passed away in her 97th year on February 22, 2023. Norma lived a long, rich, fulfilling life, not without love or loss. After becoming a widow of the late Tom White, she found love again with the late Bill Hicks, adding two step-daughters, Susan and Diane, to her family. The youngest of 9, she is pre-deceased by her 8 siblings: Wilfred, Tom, Dolly, Beatrice, Hazel, Lillian, Mary, and Ruth. She was known as “Aunt Norma” to many, with special connections to her niece Wendy, her late nephew Donnie and his children, Lily, Jeremy, and Angela. She is survived by many other nieces and nephews, up to 4 generations after hers.
Special friend to Pat, Marion, and many others, Norma touched the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her. Her kindness, fierce independence, determination, creativity, and wit constantly caught people’s attention. Norma was also known for her sense of style, having entrepreneurial experience in the 1970s and 1980s at “Norma K. Lingerie” on Mississauga Street in Orillia.
Norma had the fortune of travelling all over the world, with a lake house to call home in Orillia in the summer, and a home in Bradenton, Florida to winter in for many decades. Special thanks to the caring staff at Victoria House in Orillia for providing her a comfortable home in her last years.
