Homer; Norma Alice (nee Smith) 1924-2023

Norma passed away peacefully at Victoria House, Orillia on Sunday, August 13, 2023 in her 100th year.  Norma, beloved wife of the late Frank Homer. Loving mother of Paula McNamara (Jim) of Barrie, Russell MacKinnon of Richmond Hill, Bruce Homer (Candy) of Guelph, David Homer (Joanne Holiday) of BC, John Homer of Calgary, Janet McColeman (Sam) of Toronto and Margaret Homer of BC. Cherished grandmother of Matthew, Christopher, Adam, Jacob, Kathleen, Michael, Sara, Edward, Elizabeth, David, Kai, Allison, Waverley and Sara. Proud great grandmother of many. Dear sister of the late Helen Bray (Ken). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.

Norma was a graduate of the University of Toronto and supported many patients in her role as an Occupational Therapist. Her last designation involved opening the OT Department at Soldiers Memorial. She was an accomplished artist and Norma and her husband Frank painted all over the world, attending and conducting many workshops. Her talents extended to many sewing and knitting and weaving projects. Norma was an active member of St. Paul’s United church and involved in many community clubs, Canadian Club, Sweet Adelines, Optimus Club, Lawn Bowling, Art Club, and many more. In her later years, Norma took great joy in playing bridge with dear friends, reading with her book club and enjoying activities on her iPad. A life well-lived.

A Celebration of Norma’s Life will be held on Tuesday September 26 (4:00-6:00) at Orillia Museum of Art and History. If desired, memorial donations to St. Paul's United Church or the Orillia Museum of Art and History. Interment St. Andrew's - St. James' Cemetery.
