It is with immeasurable sorrow and broken hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Gordon C. Hopkins, at his home in Oro-Medonte, on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. He was 89 years young. Born in Uxbridge, the youngest of 5 siblings. Gordon was a man of few words but when he spoke you knew it would be of importance. That is why he was nicknamed “The Brain”. He was a long-time firefighter with the Orillia Fire Department for 25 years. He was a man of many talents, too long to list them all. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Joan. He was the loving father of Michael (predeceased), Sharon (predeceased), Lois Springstead (Stephen), Paul Hopkins (Teresa). Dearly loved grandfather of Robbie (predeceased), Jessika Hopkins (Phillip), Olivia Hopkins, (Josue), Kyle Monaco (Tanya) and Nicola Boragina. Dear brother of Marlin, Earl, Lorne, Lois, Theda (all predeceased). Niece Judy and Marie and all other nieces, nephews and cousins. His family Mike O’Donnell (Cheryl) and their children, Harold, Jim and the rest of the Corrigan / Callaghan family. Close friends with all his long time, loving neighbors on the street. Ken, Dawn, Geoff, Ann, Alex, Vlada, Veronica, Leo, Linda, Chris and Stephanie just to name a few. He will be sadly missed by all the other special people in his life. Private family arrangements have been made. A celebration of life will be announced to all at a later date. If desired, memorial donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated and may be made through the Mundell Funeral Home (705) 325-2231. Message of condolence are welcome at www.mundellfuneralhome.com.
