July 17, 1943 - June 15, 2023

Grace passed away peacefully surrounded by those she treasured most.  Beloved wife of Donald Horne for 58 years. Loving mother to Don Jr and Kevin. Cherished mother-in-law to Kevin's wife Leanne (nee Robert).

Grace will be missed by her sibling Kay (Ray) Gauthier and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Charles & Phyllis Horne & sister-in law Laurene Horne.  Predeceased by siblings Lewis, Alice, Dorothy & Velma and predeceased by her in-laws William (Ann), Jean Ann (Jerry), Garnet (Carmel). She will be fondly remembered by many nephews & nieces, especially Katherine Horne (John Ward Jr.).

Grace was a lifetime member of the Harvie Settlement Woman's Institute. She made lifelong friends there and enjoyed helping out her community. Grace and Don were also members of Forest Home United Church for many, many years.

Grace was an avid gardener and loved tending to her flowers as well. Her gladiolus were her pride and joy, and we think she grew them just so she could share them with others. She enjoyed painting, sewing, and baking and used those skills when she taught many a young person during her time leading 4H at their home. In later years, Grace also judged Junior Fair at the Orillia Fall Fair where she enjoyed seeing all the things the children created.

Grace was a great help to Kevin when he started up his own cabinetmaking business going on installations with him in the beginning. Then after Don retired from Orillia Township and started helping Kevin, Grace spoiled them with coffee and treats every day.

She was a bit of a homebody and enjoyed keeping her house clean and tidy. Homemade pies were always on the menu with pastry from scratch always.

Although the past few years health wise were difficult for Grace, she still enjoyed sitting in the window and watching the traffic go by their corner.

The family wish to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at The Atrium Retirement Residence for taking such great care of Grace during her stays there. We also want to say a very special thank you to Julie Airth and her team of care givers for the exceptional care to not only Grace but to our entire family as well.

Following cremation, visitation will be held on Thursday, June 22nd from 11AM until time of Service at 1PM in the chapel of the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St. N., Orillia.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Grace's name to Forest Home United Church, Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital or the charity of your choice.  Messages of condolence are welcomed at www.mundellfuneralhome.com.
