Bill died peacefully at the Leacock Care Centre on Monday, December 7th, 2020 after suffering from ischemic heart disease which led to dementia. He was in his 75th year. Lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Linda (nee: Shaw) of Orillia, his devoted daughter Rachael and son-in-law Gordon Pollock of Scotland and by his great pride, grandson Leo. Born in Coatbridge, Scotland and raised on the east coast of Canada, he spent his adult life in Ontario. He was the son of Mary Hegan and James Instance and was loved and nurtured by his in-laws Jill and Artie Shaw. He was the oldest of eight children: James (predeceased), Virginia, Martin, Vicki, Graham, Bruce, Eric and their families. Fondly remembered by his brothers-in-law Robert Shaw, David Shaw, sister-in-law Susan Dyte and their families. Bill was a great host and a very giving man with a huge heart. He was blessed with many wonderful friends and will be dearly missed. A memorial will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff at Leacock Care Centre for their kindness and compassion. If desired, memorial donations to Soldiers' Memorial Hospital Foundation would be gratefully appreciated and may be made through the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St. N., Orillia (705) 325-2231.
