Hyung Tae ‘Howard’ Kim
Went Home peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, March 9, 2024, just shy of his 86th birthday. He is survived by his beloved wife Byung and two children Edward and Lisa.
Howard lived a happy and fulfilling life overflowing with fond memories. His journey began in Vietnam, in 1967 where he lived and worked as a civil engineer for the US government, the main goals being supporting his family in South Korea and for eventually building his future life in Canada.
In 1974, he and his wife immigrated to Canada persevering through many trials and tribulations. The perennial hard-worker, Howard’s deep devotion to his family lead to a successful career as a long-time business owner in Orillia, ON where he was loved by the community and whom he loved in return.
A devoted long-time member of the Hi-Way Church family, Howard was a committed believer who was welcoming and ever-generous to all expecting nothing in return. His happiness always rested upon caring for and taking care of family and community members alike.
Even in his last days, Howard maintained his characteristic cheerful and hopeful attitude throughout a very difficult battle with lung cancer until it was time to go Home.
Deep gratitude to the dedicated staff of the RVH Cancer & Palliative Care team who provided much comfort and support.
