Kinnear; Brian Douglas

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Brian Kinnear on January 30, 2024 after a period of illness. Brian was in his 70th year.  He is the beloved son of Audrey and Morley Kinnear (predeceased).  He is the dear brother of Neil Kinnear and Karen McLeod (Art). Uncle "B" will be greatly missed by his nephews Jason (Christina) Kinnear, Michael (Jess) McLeod, Matthew (Kate) McLeod and niece Brianna Kinnear.  Brian is the loved great uncle to Emily and Jackson McLeod.  Brian will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and business associates.

Brian was born and raised in Orillia attending Mount Slaven PS and Park Street Collegiate.  He got a BA from York University and a law degree from the University of Windsor. He practiced family law in Orillia and enjoyed being a part-time judge for small claims court.

Brian was a voracious reader and enjoyed hunting, fishing, curling and watching football. Brian loved music and enjoyed attending a few concerts including Rolling Stones, Chicago and Gordon Lightfoot to name a few.  In years past Brian enjoyed volunteering at the Mariposa Folk Festival, for the Big Brothers association and the Orillia Curling Club.  He was a member of the Public Library Board, Odd Fellows association and PC Party of Ontario.

Special thanks to nephew Jason Kinnear for his support in recent months.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Brian’s Life will be held in the Banquet Hall of St. Paul’s United Church on Saturday March 9th from 1 to 4 pm located at 62 Peter St N, Orillia.  Anyone who would like to say a few words or share a memory may do so at 2 pm.  Light lunch refreshments will be served. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Brian's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or your favourite charity.
