Robert Ronald Lahay (Bob) passed away peacefully in his 88th year on April 23rd, 2024, at the Trillium Manor in Orillia.

He was the beloved husband and life-long companion for over 60 years to Muriel (predeceased, 2019). Survived by his brother Edward (Audrey), sister Gail Schell (Ivan, predeceased) and step-sister Joy McIlveen (Hank, predeceased). Pre-deceased by his siblings Bruce (Millie), Margaret Orr (Eric), John (Joan), and Eva, and parents Robert Norton Lahay and Marjorie Nellie (nee Gammon). Uncle Bob will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Bob worked as a butcher for most of his life, starting at Loblaws and then at Orr’s Meat Market, Uptergrove. He played competitive lacrosse in his younger years, bowled in a local Orillia league, and played many rounds of golf over the years. And from his favourite armchair, he was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays fan. Mostly he enjoyed exploring the world with his wife Muriel.

Cremation has taken place at the Simcoe Funeral Home and his ashes will be interred in the niche with his soulmate Muriel at St. Andrew’s – St. James Cemetery. A private memorial will be held by the family, with dates and details to be arranged at a future date. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
