On Saturday, September 17th, Norman Langman, with family by his side, passed away peacefully at Mariposa House Hospice. Norm, of Oro-Medonte, was in his 84th year.

Norm was married to Janet Langman, who passed away in August of 2021, for 58 years. He will be dearly missed by his son Peter Langman (Lydie) of Oro-Medonte, daughter Susan Langman (David Zimmerman) of Williamstown, MA, and daughter Heather Marassato (Dave) of Lively,Ontario. Cherished grandfather of Nicholas, Mackenzie, Dana (Ryan), Tyson, Bennett, Blake, and Curtis (predeceased). Beloved son of Tyson and Olive Langman (both predeceased). Dear brother/brother-in-law to Bob (predeceased) and Eileen Langman, and Allan Langman (Diane Robertson). Affectionately remembered by his nieces and nephews.

Norm farmed for many years with his family until starting his own business, NTL Contracting. His last few working years were spent at Morris Shelswell and Sons which he truly enjoyed.  Norm dedicated his life to his family, friends, church and community.  It was often said that Norm would “give the shirt off of his back“ to help whoever was in need. He loved to chat, discuss, and debate with friends old and new. One of Norman‘s greatest joys was fishing, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren. He also loved family and community history, and enjoyed spending time researching this topic.  Every Father’s Day his request was to visit various local cemeteries to read the headstones of those who passed on before him.

Norm and Janet spent time over the years traveling to various places throughout Canada and the United States, camping in their trailer. They also enjoyed cruises which brought them to Alaska and the Panama Canal.

A celebration of his life will be held at Rugby Community Hall, Rugby, Ontario on Sunday, October 2, from 1 to 4 p.m. for family and friends.

If desired, memorial donations to the Mariposa Hospice House would be gratefully appreciated and may be made by clicking on Mariposa Hospice House or by calling 705-558-2888.  Arrangements entrusted to the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West Street North – Orillia.
