Patricia Mackenzie, 83 of Kitchener and formerly of Orillia, passed away peacefully at home on June 29, 2023 with her family at her side. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Ron, and her daughters Cynthia (Bob) Schertzer and Jennifer (Kevin) Casey. Pat was a loving and spirited grandma to Patrick, Brittany, Spencer, Parker and Mackenzie and a caring sister to Nancy (George) Mackenzie and Pauline (Murray) Macquarrie. A special aunt to Greg (Pat) Mackenzie, Derek (Shirley) Mackenzie, Timothy (Eda) Southam, Antony (Margo) Southam, Neil and Joe Macquarrie. Those who predeceased Pat are her parents Errol and May Neil, her twin brother Peter Neil and her sister Beverly Southam.

Born and raised in Kirkland Lake, Pat was always proud of her northern roots. After marrying Ron their adventures took them to Toronto, Richmond Hill, Simcoe, Churchill Falls, Orillia and finally Kitchener. A compassionate and loyal friend, Pat developed life-long friendships wherever she went and she valued the regular lunches, trips, kitchen parties, shopping excursions, and long chats over a glass of wine with those closest to her. Her death has left a profound gap in all of our lives and she will be forever missed.

While her family was always her greatest accomplishment, Pat was extremely proud to earn her private pilot’s license in 1971 at the Brantford Flying Club as well as the career she had in the banking sector first with Victoria & Grey then National Trust in Orillia. Mom taught us that with a strong work ethic and sense of commitment anything was possible.

Cremation has taken place and in keeping with Pat’s wishes, there will not be any services at this time. A celebration of life to be scheduled at a future date. We invite you to raise a glass of her favourite wine, Remole, and toast the incredible life and impact of our mom and best friend, “Patsy”!

Arrangements entrusted to the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Home 54 Coldwater Street E., Orillia, Ontario 705-326-3595.
