Oesterle

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hans J. Oesterle at the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, July 5th, 2022.  Born in Karlsruhe, West Germany on October 24th  1934, Hans immigrated to Canada on June 3, 1956.  Hans is predeceased by his parents Johann and Maria Oesterle and his dear brother Rolf who all remained in Germany.  Hans was a devoted and faithful husband of 65 years to his beloved Brunhilde who immigrated to Canada in 1957 to marry him.

Hans was very proud of his family and is survived by Peter and his wife Sandy in Pine Grove, PA, Eric and his wife Michele in New Market, MD, and Michael and his partner Lorraine in Orillia, ON.  He was an extremely proud grandfather (Opa) of Mara (Doctor of Pharmacy) and Neil, Jacob Oesterle (2nd Lt., United States Air Force), and Rylea Oesterle (Ensign, United States Navy), and his youngest grandchildren Alexander, Liam, and Logan.  Hans is also survived by his sister-in-law Renata, and his sister Erika and her husband Manfred in Germany.

Hans moved from Montreal where he landed as an immigrant in Canada to Toronto. As a landed immigrant to Canada, he worked very hard and applied himself diligently in all of his occupations and studies, eventually becoming a Certified Industrial Manager while working at Chromalox Canada where he began his professional career.  Hans and his family initially resided in High Park and Rexdale and eventually moved to Brampton in 1965.  Hans and his family immigrated to the United States in 1975 to pursue business opportunities.  The same entrepreneurial spirit returned Hans, Bruni, and Michael back to Canada on July 4th 1985, twenty-two years to the day after he became a Canadian citizen.  Hans became a business partner with loyal friends and colleagues at Caloritech Inc. in Orillia, ON and retired in 2009.  He also belonged to the Orillia Curling Club and the Treehaven Golf Club.  Hans will be dearly missed by his family and his many friends, colleagues, and neighbors.  The family is extremely grateful for the care provided to Hans by the nurses and doctors at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James St E.
