Passed away peacefully at the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on Tuesday March 26th, 2019 in his 87th year. Walter Powell of Oro-Medonte was born in Orillia to the late George and Aileen Powell. Beloved husband of Sharon Mae Powell (nee Rowan) of 57 years. Much loved father of Michael (Elena), Karen McAulay (Mark), Dan (Kerry) and the late John. Proud grandfather of Seth, Owen and Conor. Dear brother of Donald Powell (late Marie), Beatrice Shellswell (Allan), the late Brian Powell and the late George Powell (late Shelagh). Walter will be dearly missed by his nieces, nephews, family and friends. A celebration of Walter’s life will be held at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James St. E Orillia on Wednesday April 17th 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Tributes will be held at 1:30 p.m. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
