1950-2024

Thomas Shular (Tom), with his loving family by his side, in his 73rd year, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Tom took his first steps onto those beautiful shores of heaven on March 21, 2024.

Devoted and loving father to Chris, Lynda (Rob Lepard), Kyle, Sammy (Justin Rego) and AJ (Lacey). Adoring Papa of Raven, Elijah, Massey, Hannah, Devin, Riley, Hunter, Thalia (predeceased), Breanna, Isobel, and Baby Shular on the way. Adored big brother of the late Leonard Shular (Patricia Patten) and Barbara (Dave) McFarlane. Beloved son of the late George and Marguerite Shular (nee Frank). Tom will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Fondly remembered by Theresa Shular, and the Christians at Dominion Gospel Hall. He will also be missed greatly by his good friend Carol Anne and family.

Tom carried a joyful and faithful attitude throughout his life. Being from a navy family, Tom developed a love for travel and adventure early on. Something he passed on to his five children from an early age. He was always taking them on extraordinary outings and adventures. Teaching many lessons along the way. Tom had many jobs in his lifetime. Spending most of his working life at Weston Bakery in Orillia, he was also a DJ in his younger years and continued to love music all his life.

Tom’s generous and giving spirit will be greatly missed by many in the community as he dedicated almost twenty years later in life to volunteering and helping others (e.g. Helping Hands). He found great joy in that. Tom was known for his humour and often his playful, spontaneous spirit would burst out, leaving so many hilarious memories for us all. This shining, gentle man always managed to live in positivity and had so much Joy in his heart (which he boldly identified as the Lord Jesus Christ).

Many thanks to his church family at Dominion Gospel Hall and his many good friends at Coldwater Hillcrest Seniors Home, and the amazing staff at RVH Cancer Centre and Orillia's Soldiers Memorial Hospital. A funeral to celebrate Tom's life will be held at Dominion Gospel Hall, 30 Andrew Street S, Orillia on Saturday April 20th, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with refreshments to follow. As an expression of sympathy,  memorial donations may be made to Sick Kids through the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street E., Orillia (705) 327-0221.
