March 28, 1940 - August 29, 2021

Boyd Smith of Chemainus died on August 29th after a brief illness due to multiple myeloma.

Predeceased by his parents Bradley and Lorna, and brother Graham.  He is survived by his wife Barbara (nee Broadhead), son Christopher (Shondra) of Georgetown, and daughter Dawn (Anthony) of Chemainus, BC.  His grandchildren, Gabriel, Ayden, Keilan, Tea, and Digory James will sadly miss their PaPa.

Boyd was born in Housey’s Rapids and moved to Toronto as a young man.  He began a career with IBM and took roles in Scarborough, Thunder Bay, and Calgary before settling in Markham.  Through the adventure of his career he made many lifelong friends.  After “retiring”, Boyd left Markham and spent many peaceful years on the Green River in Washago before heading west with Barb to join Dawn’s family in Chemainus, BC.  Boyd will be remembered for his love of books, his sense of humour, and the watchful eye he kept on his grandkids. He made friends easily, we will miss his generosity and grace.

Plans for a gathering in Ontario for family and friends to celebrate Boyd’s life will be set at a later date.
