Sadly, we regret to announce that Frieda Telke, 83, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Sunday, April 2nd, 2023, surrounded by family at Hospice Simcoe, Barrie, Ontario.

She was born on Feb 12th, 1940, in Lonke, Poland to Olga Mietz and Robert Telke and emigrated to Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, Canada.

Frieda loved gardening, cooking, baking, dancing, working on crafts (pinecones), stamp collecting, and knowing her family and family tree. She spent years accumulating very detailed pictures, letters, and artifacts from any source she could think of and contact, to create the family tree book called ‘Their Pathway Through Life’ which has been published and shared with many family and friends

Frieda, who was lovingly referred to and known as Omi and Mimi, lived in the Barrie and Orillia, Ontario area since 1978.

Predeceased by both of her parents, and her late partner Paul Morton. Survived by her loving children Alexander (“Les”) Begg (Nanette), Rick Begg (Jenda Preap), and Cheryl Begg-Gross (Mark). Cherished grandmother to Jennifer Abbott (Greg), Jeremy Begg (Analie), Jonathan Begg (Ashley), Cassandra Kumpula, Allison Gross, Kate Gross; and great grandmother to Carter and Chase Abbott; and Madison and Makena Begg. Dear sister to Erica Dalebozik (John), Waltraud Stiller (Bob), Inge Lambert, Erma Kratsch; and predeceased by Martha Telke, Reinhold Telke, Henry Telke, Erwin Telke, and Else Meier.

A Celebration of Life will be held at LEGACY FUNERAL HOME, 55 Cedar Pointe Drive, Barrie (parking and main entrance on Highway 400 side of building) on Saturday, April 8th, 2023, at 11 o’clock a.m. with visitation from 10 a.m. Family and friends are invited to come and share fond memories and stories. Interment St. Andrew’s-St. James’ Cemetery, Orillia.
