It is with broken hearts  that we announce the passing of Ernst OLAF Stosch on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 in his 90th year at the Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital where he died of cancer.

Olaf and his wife, Eva-Maria, immigrated to Canada in 1957 from Berlin, Germany.

He will be remembered for his easy-going ways, his friendliness and his ever-present kindness.

Olaf worked for Sears Canada Limited for almost 30 years in the Data Processing Department where he developed important programs for that company and became the Manager of that Department. He retired from Sears in 1990 and he and Eva moved to Bayshore Village in 1992  until 2019. He learned to play golf and was an active member of Bayshore Village Community. He started Dressage Riding and rode in different countries around the world. He and Eva enjoyed travelling and organized many trips with members of the Twin Lakes PROBUS Club. Olaf was also an active member of the Champlain Seniors Service Club.

He will be missed by his wife of 66 years, his “daughter” Kristen Wenghofer and her family, his relatives in Germany and the USA and his many friends.

Heartfelt thanks go out to the caring staff of Leacock Retirement Lodge, Leacock Care Centre and the staff of the OSMH Harvie Wing.

According to his wishes there will be no funeral services. Cremation has taken place.

Arrangements entrusted to the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Home 54 Coldwater Street E., Orillia, Ontario 705-326-3595.
