Joan Beverley Switzer was born on June 3, 1934 and joined her angels in heaven in the early morning of November 18, 2021. Predeceased by her husband Raymond Switzer. Much loved mother of Heather Mallard Houle (Gary Houle) (late Gerald Mallard), late David Switzer, Scott Switzer (Janet) and Karen Switzer (Lenny Sherwood). Very loved sister of David Beckett. Adored by her grandchildren Jennifer Switzer (Brandon Lyon), Victoria Switzer, Sam Switzer (Natalie White), Sean Mallard (Chantelle,) Christopher Mallard and great grandson Bentley Mallard. Loving aunt to her nephews. Dear friend of the “gang” a group of friends who have been together since the late 1950’s. Joan was a teacher by trade and taught at Mount Slaven school in Orillia for 8 years and then became a homemaker to look after her children for the rest of her days. A mother is a mother forever and she never forgot to make sure to the very end that we were all okay. Joan also participated in the Women’s business club back in the day, enjoyed bowling, attended Core 34 and participated on endless adventures and get togethers with her gang and Ray’s work trips. Joan had a wonderful troop of caregivers looking after her every need. Special thanks to Happy at Home and staff, Couchiching Family Care Team, Marion, Deb, Danielle and nothing short of being amazing and so compassionate Doctor Barnett and his secretary Linda. Joan was ill for a number of months but faced it fearlessly never complaining and always making sure everyone was ok. She enjoyed spending time with all of her family in her last months and as a family that stays together they pulled together to make everything for Joan the best it could possibly be. Lenny her builder, Janet her psw organizer and Gary her cancer buddy were always there for her. Joan had either her brother or one of her caregivers Rexy by her side to enjoy her muched loved Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs as well as some very entertaining visits from her little man Bentley. Joan had some special phone calls with her gang and she always put forth the day with a smile and a sense of humour. The water was calm on the lake and then it got rough but when Joan passed it became calm again. There was a private family graveside service on Monday.
