January 4, 1949 - April 28, 2023

It was a warm, spring morning as the sun filled the yard around the house. Daffodils and tulips began to emerge from Mom’s award-winning gardens. The transition of season to Spring gives way to new life - a reminder that Mom is now in a better place where her spirit will live on.

Verna passed away peacefully at home, with family at her side, on the morning of April 28th, 2023. Verna’s passion for gardening was evident by anyone who passed her house. She was a creative person, with a talent for decorating and sewing, always willing to help her children and grandchildren.

Born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, predeceased by her parents Aubrey and Elta (nee Carter) Forsythe, beloved wife of the late Allan Tambling (2012), beloved sister of the late Jim (Arlene) Forsythe and Jessie (Leonard) Loshaw. She will be greatly missed by her children Cindy (Jon) Malik and Kevin Goovaerts, and her grandchildren Ashley (Devin) and Michelle Malik, and by her sisters Jane Pallister, Patty Rebuk, Darlene (Dan) Robson, Pauline (Paul) Rogers and Audrey (Dave) Rebuk. She will be fondly remembered also by her many nieces and nephews, family members and friends.

She grew up in Toronto; raised her children in London, Ontario; moved to Oro Station to be near her grandchildren; and retired to Big Cedar Estates, where she met some of her closest friends. She was well-loved by all who knew her, and selflessly gave everything to help her family and friends. She will be forever remembered for her fun, loving and caring ways. We will miss you sweetie.

Special thanks to the staff at Bayshore Nursing and Couchiching Family Health Team, especially Julia, Jackelyn, Amanda and Tammy, who went a step above to help to Verna and her family in her final days.

Visitation will be held at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St. N., Orillia on Wednesday May 3rd from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm and on Thursday May 4th from 2pm until time of Funeral Service at 3pm.
