Telford, Barbara Jean: of Greenwood, Kings Co.,

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Jean Telford, affectionately known to her friends and family as “Bubba”. Barb passed away peacefully on Monday March 25th at the age of 77 at Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville, Nova Scotia, surrounded by her loving family. Cherished wife and best friend to her devoted husband Lawrence “Larry” Telford. Daughter to the late Melvin and Jean (Hawke) Ball. Barb was the beloved Mother to Darrin (Tina) Devine of Orillia, Ontario, Matthew (Melissa) Devine of Stillwater Lake, Nova Scotia and sister to Duane (Sharon) Goerke of Severn Township, Ontario. Barb was the devoted and proud “Nana” to her three grandchildren Savannah, Sydney and Tristen Devine. Predeceased by her parents, brothers Murray (Jean) Ball, Dennis Ball and sister Joanne Ball.

Barb was born, lived, and worked in Orillia, Ontario. As a strong, determined and independent woman, Barb was a tremendous role model, mother and mentor to her sons. In 1989 she married the love of her life, Larry. They relocated to California, through Larry’s employment, in 1990 where they began their new life together. Over the course of their 34 year journey, they had many adventures together in California and around the world, eventually returning to Canada upon Larry’s retirement in 2002. They settled down to retire in Greenwood, Nova Scotia in 2003 where Barb grew a community around her, becoming a member of the Red Hatters Society and was a founding member of the Circle of Friends gardening group. Barb was a master seamstress, excelling at formal wear, costumes or simply altering clothing. Barb had a tremendous sense of style and design that fostered the many projects they partnered on in the creation of their beautiful home.

Barb was never happier than when she was surrounded by family, especially her 3 grandchildren. There will never be a stronger bond than the love that Barb had for her husband and her entire family. Barb will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
