Passed away peacefully at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Orillia, on Feb.10/24, at the age of 93.
Esther was married to her loving husband Egon (1922-2013), for 59 years.
Esther was a wonderful Mom, and was much loved by her son Ken and daughter- in-law Zoe. She was also a much loved grandma to decades of their family dogs.
Esther is predeceased by her mother Kristine “Dina” Christiansen (nee Jensen), and her father Ejnar Christiansen and four of her brothers; William, Robert, Preben and Hans. She is survived by her youngest brother Flemming (Ester), who reside in Denmark. Esther is also survived by her loving sister-in-law Elen, who she absolutely adored, along with her loving niece Marianne and six nephews, all who reside in Denmark.
Special thanks to the Page family of Uxbridge Ontario, who opened their home to the Thomsen family and employed Egon when they first came to Canada in 1957. Thank you Evelyn for keeping in touch and asking about Esther.
Esther was a long time employee of Gilbeys Canada; her Gilbeys family was very special to her. She and Egon loved to travel, had a passion for gardening, and loved to entertain their family and friends… particularly Boxing Day with the Nielsen family!
Special thanks to all the wonderful staff at the Sundial Lakeview Retirement Residence in Orillia. Esther loved living at the Sundial, and won the hearts of many of the staff working there. She appreciated every kindness and loved her cozy suite. Soon, on a spring day, Esther will join Egon at the Sunset Mindepark, in Puslinch Ontario.
