Bill passed away at Orillia Soldier’s Memorial Hospital on Sunday Sept 25, 2022 one month shy of his 90th birthday. Bill was the husband of the late Betty Thomson (2020). Bill is survived by his son Michael (Kelly) and their two children Sarah Cal (Andrew), Andrew Thomson (Stephanie Romero) and daughter Nancy Tomkinson (Rick, stepson Rob).
Bill was born and raised in Orillia, the son of his late parents John and Greta Thomson. Bill was the brother-in-law of Mildred Smith, Clarence and Louise Payne, Fern and Stanley Gilchrist and Allan Faux (all pre-deceased). Bill is survived by his sister-in-law Doris Faux and brother-in-law John Smith. Bill will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Bill was a 38 year employee of Bell Canada retiring in 1991. He enjoyed golfing and fishing and could be seen most days walking on the Lightfoot Trail with Betty. For those who wish, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
Services will be held at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St E, Orillia, (705) 326 3595. Visitation beginning at 10:00 am followed by a memorial service at 11:30 on Saturday October 1, 2022.
