At the age of 91, passed away, at Leacock Care Centre in Orillia, on Sunday July 28th. Scott leaves behind his best friend and love of his life for 30 years his wife Jean (Crawford) Tudhope, step-son Bill Brown (Sue), step-daughter Gail Hudson (Larry). Nephew John Prittie (Nancy), nieces Anne Hall (Brian), Jane Howson (Ross), and their children. Scott is pre-deceased by his mother Elva and father Charlie Tudhope, his sister Jean Prittie and brother-in-law Jack Prittie.

Scott has been a familiar face around Orillia and Oro-Medonte his entire life. For 47 years you could find him at Tudhope Shoes store on West St. providing sensible shoes at a reasonable price. While in the shoe business, Scott was actively involved in a bustling downtown, and if asked would provide solid, level-headed advice on anything about business. Scott loved his work and was dedicated to professionalism and fairness it was apparent by the amount of children who grew up and brought their children and grandchildren to purchase their shoes and boots at his store.

Scott was a shy gentle man whose quiet nature and looming stature may have been intimidating to those that knew him from a distance, but to his family he was a was steady voice of reason who loved family, golfing, flower and vegetable gardening and time spent in Florida.
Although always generous within his community in more recent years Scott focused his success on more serious philanthropy, developing the William Scott & Jean Tudhope Foundation. Giving annually to local charities of their choosing. Their gifts will continue into perpetuity giving a hand up to those in need. The family of Scott Tudhope would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all of those who have supported Scott and Jean right up until Scott’s passing on July 28. The nurses and PSW’s on staff at Leacock Care Centre who work very hard to provide comfort and outstanding care to seniors who are no longer able to care for themselves.

And a special thank you to Scott’s personal caregiver Lory Tribano who faithfully has been at his side for 4 1/2 years. You cared for Scott with love and humour and allowed him the dignity we all deserve near the end of our lives. We say thank you and we are very grateful to those of you who have the heart to do this difficult profession.
