Verner, Patrick David
Passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, on January 3, 2024, in his 86th year. Loving husband of Georgette Nancy (nee Kirk), 64th year of marriage. Loving and devoted father of Patrick Dean Verner (Sherry), Paul David Verner, Daniel Owen Verner (Linda) and Kristi Laura Verner (Gary). Proud granddad of Emilie, Elizabeth (Nick), Cole & great granddad of Peter and Theodore. Cherished son of the late Wallace & Marjorie Verner. Dear brother of Ross (Betty), Bob (predeceased), Greg (Lynn) and Bruce (Joyce). Brother-in-law of Mary Jane Leewis (Keith) and the late Barbara & Carl Dixon. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and by his dear friend Russell.
Pat will be remembered for his adoration of sports and was particularly proud of The Canadian Championship of the Parkdale Lions (1957). He took great enjoyment serving as a past president with the Toronto Scottish Rugby Club and the Champlain Seniors Club, Orillia with whom he shared a fellowship. In his retirement years, he felt the importance of "giving back to community" and that he did, volunteering with Helping Hands, Hospice Orillia, and the Salvation Army.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital (Palliative Care Unit), Leacock Care Centre, and Dr. Stuart for their utmost care and compassion shown to Patrick and our family.
As per Pat’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held in the late spring. If desired, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County would be gratefully appreciated and can be made through the Mundell Funeral Home (705)325-2231.
