Passed away peacefully on August 4, 2023 at the Leacock Care Centre in Orillia. Born October 17, 1927 in the United States, she was active until the age of 95. She was married in 1948 to her loving husband Norman Robert Watson who preceded her death in 2008.
For many years Yvonne and Norman owned and operated Watson’s Hardware and a plumbing and heating business in East York. In addition to working in the hardware store, she loved to entertain and create amazing meals for family and friends. When it came time to retire, they took on the full-time job of babysitting their granddaughter. Following the passing of her husband, Yvonne went to live with her son and daughter in law in 2010 and eventually moved with them to Horseshoe Valley in 2014. She was a loving and compassionate soul who always put others before her self interests. She touched and loved many and will be dearly missed.
The oldest of 8 siblings, Yvonne is survived by her sisters Shirley Traverse and Lynn Thomas, brother Albert Thornhill and his wife Joyce, son Leonard and his wife Janet and granddaughter Brittany.
A special thanks to the nurses, PSWs and staff at Leacock Care Centre who cared for Yvonne with compassion and respect.
A Celebration of Life for immediate family will be held at a later date.
