Passed away at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital in the embrace of his devoted and loving wife and in the presence of his son.

He will be deeply missed by Connie his wife and partner of 33 years.  Loving younger brother to his sister Ruth.  He was a devoted and loving father to his children Christopher (Annette) and Jennifer. Best Grampy ever to Faye and Edie who were the ever eager recipients of wonderful trips and adventures with him.

He was also a best friend to Gail who is Connie’s best friend and who also held the amusing title of “Wife in Waiting”.

He was predeceased by his parents Connie (Miles) and Roy Welbourn of Hamilton.

Ron was born and raised in Hamilton Ontario.  He joined the Ontario Provincial Police as a dispatcher in 1968 at the age of 18.  In July of 1988 he successfully competed for one of two positions as an instructor for the O.P.P. for a new radio system to be rolled out province-wide over a four year period.  This is where he met Connie who was successful at securing the other position of instructor.  At the conclusion of this roll out Ron became a permanent instructor in this position and was transferred with O.P.P. Headquarters to Orillia Ontario where he  happily lived out his life..  Ron retired in 1999 and started his own training company “Proven Ways”.  Proven Ways contracted emergency services instructors and delivered a multitude of courses for Emergency Services in partnership with Georgian College and separately throughout North America.

Ron and Connie travelled extensively throughout their life together.  He was always happiest behind the wheel and on to his next adventure.  He particularly enjoyed timeshare trading, his motorhome and many cruises.

Ron loved collecting fish for his aquariums.  He was an outstanding cook and enjoyed making meals for his loved ones.  Above all Ron enjoyed being with his family, hosting holidays and just always being with the love of his life.

He will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and neighbours.
