March 2, 1983 – September 8, 2023

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce Andrew’s sudden passing after a short battle with cancer. Andrew passed away on the afternoon of September 8, 2023, surrounded by friends, family, and Monarch butterflies. He will be profoundly and eternally missed by the love of his life: his wife and soulmate Aleksa, and their two beautiful children, Elliot and Lark; his parents Ed and Jackie, brothers Stephen (Christine) and Chris (Olivia), sister-in-law Natalka (Patty), nieces and nephews Izzy, Maddy, Harry, Zoe and Luca. His memory will be held and cherished by his mother-in-law, Lida, his aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and his chosen family, “the gang”.

Andrew had a unique way of seeing and moving through the world. He carved his own path with curiosity, intention, authenticity, and a sense of humour. He was a successful business owner (FM Recyling), a risk-taker, a problem-solver, a deep thinker, a creative and adventurous soul. He expressed himself through playing music and cooking, loved walking with his family and dogs through Scout Valley, boat rides on Lake Simcoe, travelling and exploring, from sprawling beaches to music festival fields.

He was incredibly loyal and cared deeply about people. His kindness and generosity extended well beyond his friends and family, and he found a way to connect with anyone whose path he crossed; he had a gift for making people feel seen. Andrew’s joyful spirit does not dissipate with his death. The light in his heart is boundless, forever alive in those he loved so fiercely. The mischievous twinkle in his eyes can be seen in the eyes of his children, for whom he was a rock. His infamous “bad advice” will remain forever in our hearts (for better or worse).

Andrew’s family would like to thank Mariposa Hospice for their compassionate care and support in Andrew’s final days (and for not kicking us out when we partied like college kids). In honour of Andrew, and in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Friends and family are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life at Quayle’s Brewery (4567 Line 12 N, Coldwater) Sunday September 24, from 12:00-4:00. Cremation has already taken place.
