2 charged after search warrant turns up cocaine, fentanyl, oxycodone

Investigation that started in February resulted in arrests on Barrie Road in Orillia; A 67-year-old Orillia man is among the two charged

Members of the Orillia OPP detachment's Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) have laid drug trafficking charges and seized a quantity of drugs.

In February, the CSCU began investigating alleged trafficking in Orillia, according to an OPP news release.

On Wednesday, with the assistance of Collingwood OPP CSCU, Orillia OPP Community Mobilization Unit (CMU) and Orillia OPP frontline members, a search warrant was executed at an address on Barrie Road in Orillia where two people were arrested and charged.

Police said the following was seized:

  • fentanyl 142 grams
  • cocaine 62 grams
  • 8 oxycodone pills
  • two digital scales and packaging
  • three cellular devices
  • brass knuckles and flick knife
  • Canadian currency: $1,500

Thomas Cleaveley, 67, of Orillia, has been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Cleaveley was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia in April.

Amen Turiko, 21, of Brampton, has been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - Cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - Fentanyl
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - Oxycodone
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Turiko was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
