It was a ruff 24 hours for Jax.

South Simcoe police confirmed Thursday evening they had found the 10-year-old pug-mix, who was allegedly “dognapped” from his family in Bradford Wednesday. After nearly a full day, officers from the street crime unit located the suspect, a 42-year-old woman.

She was arrested and charged in relation to the theft.

“Jax was found in good health and reunited with his family,” South Simcoe Sgt. Dave Phillips said.

In a post of social media, the department said its officers did some “pawsitively amazing” work and it offered residents who assisted with the investigation a “round of appaws.”

When asked, Phillips said he was unsure whether the woman had a prior relationship with Jax’s family.

She will appear in Bradford court in May.
