A 57-year-old East Gwillimbury man has been charged with manslaughter in the death of a fellow resident at a local group home last December.
Robert Mewha has been arrested following with the death of Onyinyechi Okorafor, also of East Gwillimbury, York Regional Police said in a news release.
The Office of the Chief Coroner deemed her death a homicide, police said, adding they will not be releasing the cause of death.
The 34-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries while being transported to a hospital following the assault.
Police responded to a report of an altercation at a group home on Davis Drive on Dec. 7, 2023, at about 9:55 p.m. Officers found both Mewha and Okoraforwith with injuries.
