Area police make arrest in child luring investigation

OPP say the 21-year-old male suspect was 'attempting to lure the victim using various methods'

Officers from the Huronia West Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a Paisley resident in connection with a child luring and pornography investigation. 

A 21-year-old, whose identity has not been released, from Paisley, Ont., was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography, luring a person under 16 years old by means of telecommunication, and transmitting sexually explicit material to a person under 16 years old. 

"On March 15, 2023, police received a call for service involving information of a male suspect being in the possession of various forms of child pornography from conversations with a minor," stated a news release from OPP. "As the investigation continued, it was learned that the male suspect was attempting to lure the victim using various methods."

Huronia West OPP crime unit led the investigation, and searched the suspect's home, seizing various items including a cell phone and tablet. 

The accused was held for a bail hearing and released on strict conditions while awaiting his next court date.
