Two people are facing outstanding warrant related charges after OPP officers were alerted by the Automated Licence Plate Recognition system.
The system notified police of a possible suspended driver at around 10 a.m. Saturday.
“Officers were conducting patrols along Highway 12 when the vehicle was located near Horseshoe Valley Road in the Township of Oro-Medonte,” said OPP in a news release.
OPP say both people in the vehicle were currently on outstanding warrants.
In addition, the officers say they found open liquor in the vehicle.
As a result, Jay Martin, 42, from Oro-Medonte has also been charged with:
- Operation while prohibited - two counts.
- Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor
- Driving while under suspension
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol 80 plus
The vehicle has been impounded for 45 days and the accused is scheduled to appear in court in Orillia on July 16.
