Orillia OPP nab pair of impaired drivers at traffic stops

ORILLIA – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) made two arrests for impaired driving offences in the area the Orillia OPP patrols.

On May 17, 2020 at approximately 3:20 p.m. a concerned citizen reported a vehicle driving erratically southbound on Hwy. 400. Police located the vehicle and initiated an impaired driving investigation.  

As a result, the driver, William Barclay, age 69, of Barrie, has been charged with:    

  • Operation while impaired contrary to Section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code; and  
  • Operation while impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) Contrary to Section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.    

The accused was released on a Form 10 Undertaking and is set to appear on Sept. 22, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.  

On May 18, 2020 at approximately 8:20 p.m. police received a call for a vehicle that left the road way and entered the ditch. Upon arrival at the scene police entered into an impaired driving investigation.   

As a result of the investigation Antony Rew of Barrie has been charged with:   

  • Operation while impaired contrary to Section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code; and  
  • Operation while impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) Contrary to Section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.    

The accused was released on a Form 10 Undertaking and is set to appear on Sept. 29, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.
