A Barrie man is facing child luring and pornography charges after allegedly using social media to communicate with a youth in the United States.
Members of the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit arrested the 50-year-old man Wednesday following a seven-month investigation.
Police said the man used Fortnite and TikTok to communicate with an 11-year-old.
“The accused exploited the victim and engaged in an explicit chat,” police stated in a news release.
The man has been charged with luring a child and making child pornography. He was held for a bail hearing and later released on a recognizance with several conditions. He will return to court at a later date.
Police have not released the name of the accused.
