Barrie police, OPP officers raid Bayfield Street business

Police say there are no concerns for public safety and several people are in custody after noon-hour raid

An Ontario Provincial Police tactical unit, along with officers from Barrie police, raided a business on Bayfield Street in downtown Barrie on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident occurred at 17 Bayfield St., south of the Five Points, shortly after noon on Oct. 18.

A news release issued by Nottawasaga OPP states that members from that detachment, with the assistance of others, "have executed several warrants within our detachment area, including in Barrie."

Police have not commented on the nature of the investigation. 

The OPP says there are no concerns for public safety and several people are in custody.

They expect there to be a heavy police presence during the ongoing investigation.
