Barrie teen dies, 2nd person injured in Oro-Medonte crash

One person pronounced dead in hospital, second person transported by Ornge to Toronto-area trauma centre with serious, life-threatening injuries, police say

Orillia OPP are investigating a fatal collision in Oro-Medonte Saturday night.

Just before 11 p.m., OPP, Simcoe County Paramedic Service and Township of Oro-Medonte Fire, were dispatched to Ridge Road between Line 4 and Line 3 South after a report of a single vehicle rollover collision.

Four occupants of the vehicle were located.

One person was transported to hospital, where they were pronounced deceased, police said in a news release.

A second person was transported by Ornge to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious, life-threatening injuries.

Two other occupants with minor injuries were transported to local hospital.

The deceased has been identified as an 18-year-old male of Barrie.

The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team attended the collision scene to assist with the investigation. Ridge Road was closed for several hours for the investigation and has since been re-opened.
