Police have confirmed human remains located Jan. 21 in Adjala-Tosorontio are those of a New Tecumseth man who was reported missing earlier this month.
William Schernhammer, 24, was reported missing Jan. 12. He was last seen alive in Alliston.
On Jan. 21, at about 8:40 p.m., police located a body in the area of 25th Sideroad.
A post-mortem was conducted Thursday, and Nottawasaga OPP confirmed Friday the deceased was Schernhammer.
Police said the cause of death will not be released “as the investigation remains ongoing,” adding more information will be released when it becomes available.
