The Orillia OPP are investigating a death following the discovery of a 40-year-old man in a wooded area on West Street South.
Shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday night, Orillia OPP officers, Simcoe County paramedics and Orillia firefighters were dispatched to the wooded area for the "report of an unresponsive male," police said in a media release.
The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Orillia OPP Crime Unit are continuing the investigation with the assistance of the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario, noted the media release.
The cause of death is to be determined pending a post-mortem. Investigators do not believe there is a threat to public safety, the media release stated.
