Bracebridge teen charged with impaired following crash

A teen driver from Bracebridge has been charged following a crash on Tuesday night.

The Bracebirdge Ontario Provincial Police is also looking for witnesses to the crash who may have additional information.

Officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Manitoba Street, just north of Monck Road Thursday at 9:30 p.m.

An investigation led police to believe that a dark-coloured Avalanche was reported to be moving quickly through a parking lot at the intersection and hit a vehicle that was traveling on Manitoba Street. The crash caused significant damage.

The vehicle was found by police on a side street and 18-year-old Mitchell Pate of Bracebridge was arrested and subsequently charged with operation while impaired CC 320.14(1)(a), over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b), dangerous operation of a motor vehicle CC 320.13(1) and failure to stop after accident CC 320.16(1). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Oct. 31, 2023 to answer to his charges.
