BREAKING NEWS: Highway 11 shut down as firefighters battle blaze

Multiple fire trucks, OPP vehicles and other emergency personnel are on the scene between Line 14 and Line 15, just south of Orillia

Details are scant but the northbound lanes of Highway 11 between Line 14 and Line 15 have been shut down tonight due to a structure fire. It's not clear if the structure is a home or commercial enterprise.

Oro-Medonte firefighters are battling a fire that appears to have started in the roof of the building that is situated on the side of Highway 11. The scene is directly across the highway from the Petro Canada station just south of Orillia.

There are multiple fire trucks and a hydro vehicle on the scene and traffic has been halted as of about 9:30 p.m.

The Orillia OPP are also on the scene and advise people to stay away from the area.

This is a developing story.
