Canine Unit on scene after car crashes into hydro pole in Orillia

Collision happened Thursday morning on Brant Street East

A flipped car and a broken hydro pole brought police, firefighters, and Hydro One workers to Brant Street East on Thursday morning.

At 11:05 a.m., the Orillia Fire Department received a call about a crash in the area, said Deputy Fire Chief Chris Ferry.

“A car hit a hydro pole, and the hydro pole snapped in half,” he said.

Police and fire vehicles are blocking portions of Brant Street East and West Street North.

“The streets are blocked off until Hydro (One) can get there to make the area safe,” Ferry said.

He said he is not aware of any injuries resulting from the collision.

The OPP Canine Unit was on the scene.

OPP officials did not respond to requests for comment prior to publication of this article. More information will be provided when it becomes available.
