Highway 11 reopened following serious crash (UPDATE)

UPDATE:
At 12:20 p.m., the Orillia OPP reopened all lanes of Highway 11 at Old Barrie Road, saying the scene has been cleared following the three-vehicle crash that occurred early this morning. 

UPDATE:

OPP remain on the scene as of 10 a.m. Wednesday morning at a collision that occurred earlier this morning on Highway 11 at Old Barrie Road and Line 15 in Oro-Medonte.

One person was seriously injured in the three-vehicle collision in which one vehicle rolled over and landed on its roof, police say. The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle by Orillia Fire Department personnel and was transported to a Toronto area hospital in serious condition.

Reconstructionists from the OPP are on the scene investigating the incident and expect the highway to remain closed for several more hours.
 

ORIGINAL STORY:
Police are urging motorists to heed the wintry driving conditions this morning as snow-covered roads are causing issues in many places.

It's especially wreaking havoc for motorists heading south from Orillia. The Orillia OPP say Highway 11 is closed in both directions, just south of Orillia, between Highway 12/Old Barrie Road and Line 15 following an early-morning collision.

There are no other details available at this time.

Police urge commuters to avoid this stretch of Highway 11 this morning.
