Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a Monday morning crash involving a street sweeper and a tractor-trailer on Highway 400 northbound at Duckworth Street in Barrie.

Provincial police closed part of Highway 400 northbound in Barrie this morning for a crash involving a street sweeper and a tractor-trailer.

OPP reported two lanes were blocked, with the remaining lane set to reopen shortly after 9:30 a.m.

"The street sweeper just kind of cut into the path of the tractor-trailer (and) caused the crash. He went to the hospital," OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said.

"Two lanes were blocked because of construction and then these two lanes were blocked, so traffic was getting by on the shoulder only," he added. "Obviously it was very heavy northbound there and probably southbound too with all of the visual distractions."

Police say the street-sweeper driver suffered minor injuries in the crash.

"They held the scene for a while to make sure he wasn't seriously injured. And they're just cleaning it all up right now," said Schmidt, adding no charges have been laid at this point, however the investigation is ongoing.
